Master's Program
Teaching Multilingual Learners
Having completed Teachnow in 2023, I am deeply aware of the need for educators to continuously explore teaching methods, adapt to changing educational environments, and respect learners in multicultural contexts. Therefore, I continued my master's program, and in 4 modules, I studied a variety of educational theoretical frameworks in depth, which helped me to design courses in a more scientific and professional way to provide an inclusive learning environment for learners, and integrated strategies to provide students with attractive courses. I explored a variety of new technology tools and tried to practice them in my real class to help students improve classroom efficiency. Aiming at the four important teaching sections of grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading, I studied new teaching methods, including word wall and feedback mechanism, which added a new dimension to my cross-language teaching

Creating a Positive, Information-Intensive Environment
How to create an information-intensive classroom environment
How oral language and an information-intensive environment impact both reading and writing development
How oral language and an information-intensive environment impact both reading and writing development
Read aloud frequently and read the same books repeatedly to become familiar with the text
Students can build oral muscle memory by reading aloud, while the ears are listening and consciously correcting their pronunciation, helping students build a sense of speech and improve their familiarity with English sentence structure
Pre-teach words & concepts students need before reading or listening to a text and Explicitly teaching words with related meanings facilitates a deeper understanding and connection
Preview vocabulary in advance, use pictures or dictionary English definitions to let students quickly understand and master the new words that may be encountered in reading, to a certain extent, but also exercise students' reading ability, solve new words and then learn will help students build confidence in reading. When students learn vocabulary again, they can add words or phrases that are synonymous and substituted, so that students can express their understanding in their own words, which can deepen students' impression of vocabulary and exercise their ability to organize sentences and language
Organize a summary and retelling of the learning content after each lesson
In this way, students can organize their own language, summarize the content of the course, on the one hand, exercise oral expression, on the other hand, it can also detect students' mastery of the new content, I usually ask students to summarize and retell each person about 3 minutes 15 minutes before the end of class
Set up voice over tasks as after-class exercises
Students are tired of constantly writing homework, and writing practice is prone to mechanical boredom. I used videos on topics related to the content of this lesson and asked students to imitate dubbing, not only to gain a deeper and broader understanding of the topics we were learning, but also to exercise voice intonation through dubbing and accumulate vocabulary related to the topic
Students break out in groups for debate competitions
At least 2 debate competitions are organized each semester, and students determine the grouping by drawing lots or forming their own teams, and then set the debate topics according to the topics that will be discussed during the semester. Students determine the pros and cons before the start of the semester, accumulate the materials they need in the course of semester learning, discuss the internal communication time within the group, consult the teacher every Sunday for assistance, and finally invite relatives and friends to visit the debate competition on the campus and evaluate it, and select the best debater and the best combination. Debate allows students to enhance their confidence in oral expression, and can more comprehensively evaluate the application of students' information collation and dialectical thinking in the English language, laying a good foundation for students' academic writing ability.
How oral language and an information-intensive environment impact both reading and writing development
As an educator with a non-professional background and an unconventional school job, Moreland's classes are a great treasure for me. Although I have worked in this industry for more than 7 years, through this study I really rethink the relationship between theory and practice, try to really implement what I learned in the classroom, they have played a good role, and at the same time I can also share with other members of my team, in this year's teaching competition of our institution, the teachers in my campus won the top three, I also won the first place in the teaching administrator, the course of Teach-Now has had a huge impact on my career
Universal Norms
In our institution's early childhood program (from ages 3 to 6), we repeatedly ask the teachers to emphasize the repetition rule. Once students grow up and enter the preschool and juvenile curriculum, the rules seem to become the default or are not emphasized by the teacher. In my original understanding, maybe the rules are made by the teacher or the authority, and students only need to obey them, and the teacher will punish those who break the rules. However, the study of general norms made me realize that rules are not unilateral requirements of teachers to students, and norms should start from respect, which is more important than compliance. I have also tried to get students to discuss the norms that we all adhere to, and it is clear that my students have been encouraged to participate in the class and have more discipline and efficiency in the class. I also try to use the common norm setting in my teaching team. When the staff don't feel stared at, they are more motivated to work, and the happiest thing is that I save a lot of time to ‘chase’ the staff.
Routines and Procedures
I students are in grade 8, and the routines and procedures throughout are clear and effective. Before the start of each semester, I always introduce our classroom procedures to all parents and students through the class meeting, and if a student joins my class during the process, I will also communicate with students and parents face-to-face individually. But I must admit that these procedures are basically introduced and explained through oral expression, and there are no visual aids in the classroom. This also has to do with our institutional hardware setup. We will design new environmental innovation for classrooms and school corridor lighting arrangements, add visual aids, and we also organized activities during the summer vacation to ask students and parents to vote for their favorite dolls and join our organization's environmental innovation and logo, I think younger children will like it very much, and we will also consider making these dolls and posters into learning peripherals, such as exercise books, book covers, bookmarks, etc., as motivational prizes for students.
Transitions
The current transition method is effective in my classroom, which is related to my classroom process, and the learning content of middle school students pays more attention to logical relationships, so we will take the foreshadowing of information and the logical relationship between links as the main clues during the transition. However, some transitions may be simpler and more crude, such as verbally shouting 'eyes on me', which is less fun. According to the learning content, I will also consider designing some transitions of activities later to increase the activity of the class.
Setting High expectations
In fact, our institution requires that individual teaching services be tailored to each student, and goals must be set and parents synchronized for the student's phased learning. We will hold a parent-teacher conference with parents every three months, and one-on-one interviews with parents before enrollment, as well as for half a year and one year of study, in order to adjust our teaching expectations and goals for each student. Since my students are junior high school students, basically the ultimate goal of parents is the middle school entrance examination, but through my study in this module, I think that I need to communicate with the students themselves and mobilize the students' initiative
Using Technology Tools
My institution is equipped with advanced interactive computers in each classroom, which allows teachers to easily use a variety of educational software. Since we need to give regular feedback to parents on the situation of students, there must be data statistics to be more intuitive, so teachers will be required to use various software. However, due to the restrictions of China's network, we cannot use some world common and popular education softwares, so we still focus on Chinese software and Apps. But I currently think that Chinese softwares is also very easy to use. For me, the more difficult thing is the gamification of teaching, my actual use of software is mainly to play courseware videos, as well as to recycle student homework, record student data, etc., the use of technical tools should be more to mobilize students' creativity, and enhance the fun of the classroom to motivate students to take the initiative to learn and improve flow. This has always been difficult for me to achieve, because as an institution, for our clients are the parents of students, improving the score is the most realistic thing, so there is really a lot of struggle. But I try to make students feel 'gamified' within the limits of what I can achieve
Communicating with parents
As I mentioned earlier, frequent communication with parents is a requirement for every teacher in our institution, which is also closely related to the KPI assessment of teachers. As a teacher and school administrator, I also regularly check the frequency of communication between teachers and parents in my team and the satisfaction of parents. We use a lot of questionnaires and regularly invite random parents to the school for interviews, and as an institution, service is our most important part, we will continue to do it. But I also found that because this is a rule, some teachers will complete for the sake of completion, and individual communication will leave parents with the impression that they are just to complete the task. Since home-school communication and home-school cooperation are very important, this semester we will consider adding some parent seminars, parent education training seminars and other activities, so that parents can also learn some education-related knowledge, and we can better cooperate with each other.
Progress you have made on the goals you set after Module 4 Unit 3
Since my students are all in adolescence, their psychological state is very influencing learning, so it is very important for me to create a teacher-student relationship of mutual respect and mutual trust, especially in the new semester my students enter the 9th grade, the entrance examination is about to come, the pressure on students will be greater, and parents will be more anxious, so I will increase the frequency of communication with students to make students feel cared for and respected.
The fact that our more difficult learning content is basically completed, and the 9th grade is mainly based on comprehensive review, which is a good opportunity for me to increase gamification and interaction in the classroom, and I will add activities to the formative assessment to help students review and practice.
Continuous Learning
Educators should be lifelong learners

Get Academic&Develop professionally
Both articles revolve around gamified learning; Gamification in early childhood education seems to be easier to achieve, but teenagers' academic tasks are heavier, how to combine technology to help young students learn in games, improve the active participation in learning, is what I have always lacked and need to continue learning, these two articles helped me rethink the practicality of reversing the classroom in teaching design.
I still have a long way to go to become a better teacher, after I finish Teach-Now, I also want to master the implementation and innovation of teaching technology in real classrooms through offline learning in CELTA, in addition to improving my personal teaching technology, I also hope that I can explore a way to guide learning and thinking, and can give my daughter more educational impact when I take on the role of mother.

Life Skills Scavenger Hunt
Social-emotional learning Activity for Students
On Children's Day 2023, I organized our school's teachers and students to complete the flea market together
Students are encouraged to bring their old belongings to the school stall, communicate and sell in English, and trade with Maxen Seedling, our school's virtual currency. Finally, a lottery is organized after the event to reward the students.
In February 2023, I organized a winter vacation quality exploration course, and told Chinese traditional stories in English with students, this course was well received by students, we invited a professional recording team to record a video for students at the end, parents also recognized it very much, and parents came to thank me for designing such a course, helping students to improve their confidence in oral expression, but also have a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture, and be able to spread Chinese culture in English.

Achievement
The biggest difficulty I encountered in this learning project was how to implement interdisciplinary teaching techniques in real classrooms.
I work in a training institution, and the most important reason for parents to choose here is to improve scores, and the traditional test-taking education does not meet the current quality test on the one hand, and on the other hand, it hinders students' enthusiasm for learning. I hope that through Teach Now, I can mobilize students' learning initiative, truly treat English as a language rather than a rigid subject, and explore practice with children.
I try to rearrange the teaching plan during the teaching process, increase the proportion of class hours for students to discuss and share, and provide technical support to students during the preview and review stages to stimulate students' interest by providing online video and audio materials. Interdisciplinary is difficult, but every topic we study can be explored interdisciplinaryly. I will try to set up a PBL project every semester, and use 20 minutes for each class. Try to see if such a plan can support to students
Looking forward to working with you!
